DTORR Celebrates World Tourism Day 2022, on 30th September, Friday through virtual mode.
Inviting aspiring students from Hospitality & Tourism backgrounds, Academician, Industry Professionals & Curious Learners to join the celebration with the theme of “Rethinking Tourism”.
To add more knowledge and learnings from the Industry, DTORR invited three special guests.
Ms. Maelys Nizan - Partnership and Knowledge Management Analyst - United Nations Environment Program (Paris, France), added her knowledge and expertise on sustainable development goals and shared her thoughts on the Decent Work and Economic Growth through Tourism ( Goal no 8.9), Monitoring Sustainable Development Impact for Sustainable Tourism (Goal no. 12. b) & Sustainable use of Marine Resources, including through Sustainable Development of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Tourism (Goal 14.7). She added many case studies in context to India and shared India’s contribution to making Tourism sustainable.
The second Keynote Speaker is Dr. Kamakshi Maheshwari, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior & Nodal Officer at Central Nodal Agency – Rural Tourism and Rural Homestay, Government of India.
Dr, Maheshwari has shared her deep understanding of the Rural Tourism and Sustainable Development Goals, Initiatives by Govt. Of India to make Rural Tourism and Rural Homestay Industry more Sustainable and a major economic growth driver for the Rural Economy.
She also added her thoughts on the future prospects, Career, and Entrepreneurship opportunities in the sector for the next generation.
She appreciated the work the Govt. of India is doing to make Tourism more Sustainable. She congratulated all, A Very Happy World Tourism Day.
The program has been joined by one of the special guests, Mr. Rajesh Chander Bali working as an Indian Information Service Officer posted as Field Publicity Officer in the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Govt. of India - Jalandhar, Punjab India.
Pro Journalist and has worked with different International Missions with Govt of India Abroad. Mr. Bali had a very special topic to share on the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Campaign of Govt of India and its direct benefit to the Domestic Tourism Industry.
He quoted various examples from his personal experience and some of them were from his recent trip to Andhra Pradesh under the scheme Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. He praised the work Andra Pradesh Tourism is doing by adding sustainable practices for making Toy village an economic strength for the community, Grand Canyon of India for sustainable tourism & coastal protection through blue flag beach certification.
He also mentioned how Punjab & Andhra Pradesh are twin states and are promoting Tourism, Culture, Food, and Language and making India together.
He appreciated the invitation to join the program and He enjoyed the program very well.
Program has concluded with awards and rewards ceremony for students participating and won in the Summer Destination Training Program and Tourism Start-up ThinkTank Program 2022.
Towards the end of the Program, the Founder of DTORR, Mr, Vikas Tembhare thanked all the keynote speakers for joining the program and for their invaluable speeches.
Mr. Vikas has launched DTORR’s upcoming Initiates - Youth Mentoring Program 2022, where 75 mentors will mentor 75 tourism students from across India on the occasion of India’s 75th year of Independence. The program has been well received by the Students, Faculty, and Industry professionals.
